The cantilever moves around when playing a record. It doesn't stay in the center, It does not affect the sound in anyway. It's the generator that produces the sound. During the praise for Goldring deep bass I can clearly hear bad distortion in the cymbals not present with the Grado. You can also upgrade the stylus on a Grado, not mentioned in your review.

Line in, line in! Microphone comparison has too many variables. Entertaining reviews tho :) I chose the Audio Technica VM520EB over the Ortofon Blue. Ortofon Verso bottom mount has $30 premium. AT cart was over $100 cheaper and sounds about the same to me. Love the bass. Not too sure why so many people are crazy about the MP-110. Sounds good but not like all the hype IMHO. Turntable = BIC 981.

Genuinely the most engaging gentleman on UA-cam. Your video about the scout mp110 and p1 started me on a journey. Literally your connection to me inspired me to go and buy the equipment by showing me not the difference between a cd and vinyl but what was posible by upgrading a single component. I would not have believed it was true. And now here I am 2 years later having upgraded my p2 to a p6 and about to upgrade my mani to an aria based on my trust for you. You literally chance people perception of what is posible and show those that missed vinyl the first time round what we have been missing….. music that isn’t heard aka cds but music that permeates and passed into and through you via quality vinyl. Super star.

I am having difficulty to set my new Ortophon 2M RED on my P1. I used the calibrator to install it as required and set the downward tracking to 1.8 as recommended . But it jumps track on almost all my vinyl records. I watch your video of antiskating on Rega P1 and I would like you to tell me what spacing I need to adjust my antiskating magnet for the Ortophon 2M red.

Listening with Meze Neo neo and it's hard to hear the differences but bronze and mp200. They both sound good to my ears. Thank you for the comparison.

Great interesting video, the carbon cartridge is doing a great job, and lot cheaper than the ortofon blue , be interesting to see if rega had better cartridge how it would perform. Regards mark

Thanks for this video, however I have a different opinion. The SL-1200 tonearm is coloring the sound with resonances. It sounds fine and "exciting "as you say, but not true to the original source. The strength of the RB303 tonearm is its neutrality for most of the range (except above 10KHz). This has been proved with accelerometer tests on the Korf blog (and the author has no interest in selling Rega tonearms -- quite the opposite the author wants to sell his own Korf tonearms.) I don't care for the rest of the Rega turntable (i also prefer direct drive), but for me the ideal would be a SL-1200MK5 but with the Rega tonearm.

I always thoroughly enjoy your reviews, and this is no exception. Found this one fairly late (5 years after it was done) because I’m in the market for a new table, and these are two of the models I’m considering. I really like the MoFi for its design and build quality and features, and I do have a fair number of 45rpm LPs, so not having to remove the platter to change speeds would be a huge plus. That being said, I could add the Neo PSU and I do tend to be a “tweaker”, both of which point to the Rega. Alternately I could go with the P6, but that’s way more $. Feeling like the biggest difference may be that my Klipsch La Scalas are already a little light in deeper bass, which again points me toward the Rega. Did you find the lack of deeper bass with the SD was improved with any specific cartridge?

agreed, i also bought first from this new wave of very tiny stylus the prestige II gold from Grado, very nice frequency response but at the time they costed more 200€ than today, the Grado which as excelent cartridges in wood wasn´t bought ,the reason why they are so cheap now the prestige gold that are grey that came out better than expected, i used to have a grado in a SL-M1 from technics and sounded amazing good but now 1/5 of the hours of use and almost 5.000dollars to match old 300dollars cartridges, all changed after the year 2000 ,as my last 96 turntable the thorens TD2001 had a ortofon mc in blue mkII ,don´t remenber the model and was excelent and lasted till 2017 ,also not using it much but now i hear more records than cds as i am now not saturated of my old records that i kept new till today buy having a litle care not wearing gloves, never touched a groove on one of my records ,now they are a bit more than 15.000 ,one see´s a lot of re-issues and thinks "i have it" than go and get them and what i found starnge is that the re-issues are told to sound better but most of them sound a lot worst than the originals like crime of the century by supertramp from 76 or pink floyd´s animals and the most funny of all the 50th re-edition or is it 100th re-edition of pink floyd´s the dark side of the moon, the first sound so good how can they say it as been improved and when bought new it comes more dirtier than mine bought in 72, when i bought the SP-1 from technics with a AT tonearm and mc cartridge also from AT

Ian can I just put the mp200 stylus into the mp110 cartridge body; without having to purchase the entire mp-200 cartridge and stylus. Do you believe it’s compatible.

I wonder if this review is still valid in 2024. Since the new Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO comes with the Ortofon 2M Red stylus, while the Rega P1 still have the same specs and cheap stylus in 2024. The price here in UK is also a big difference between both turntables, Project - £500 and Rega P1 - £300. Hard to believe the P1 have better audio quality, anyone?

Genuinely the most welcoming introduction I had years ago into vinyl. You made me understand the difference between music that reaches the ear and goes no further and music that is visceral. Life changing.

Getting back into vinyl and I'll be adding this cartridge to my dads old JVC QL-A7 that I am renovating :) The old stylus on it might have been abused by a young kid in the late 80ties that goes by the same name as me ;)
